What I've Been Listening to Lately...  July  2002

Eric Clapton Reptile I really like the song "Believe in Life" - wish I wrote it.
Altai-Hangai CD I bought from the Mongolian throat singers while traveling in  Amsterdam.  Photo

Jack Johnson

Brushfire Fairytales

I decided to start playing my upright bass again, and the band Dysfunction Junction started covering Jack's tunes, so I've been checking it out - great stuff.

Bob Brozman

Live Now

What can I say - the man can play.

Jeff Beck

Blow by Blow

I remember playing "Cause We've Ended As Lovers" in high school and I finally picked up this CD.  I'd like to try playing it again - only on electric mandolin.

Bob Tyler

The Other Bob

Bob's really a genius on guitar, production and writing or selecting some really clever songs.  I think his talent is unique and rare.  Of course you have to like clever humor to listen to it.  Reminds me of Jethro Burns - one of the funniest guys, but also one of the greatest mandolin players in the world.  Bob's guitar work is incredible.

Train

Well.  I don't listen to radio much, so maybe I'm a little slow with this pop music stuff, but I had the CD given to me and I really like it.

Ray Charles

Jazz and Blues

I'm a little slow to find this one, I guess.  When I listened to it, I was shocked just how many songs I recognized from all the people who have covered them!  Great stuff!

Phil Lesh

Phil Lesh & Friends

I dig it.  Another CD I was given.  I especially like the songs featuring Warren Haynes.
